Quake is a first-person shooter game created by id Software, which initially became famous for developing the 1990s first-person shooter game Doom. As well as being an incredibly popular game for home console players, Quake has recently started to emerge as a favorite esports title, with championships attracting massive interest from gamers, esports fans and gamblers from all over the world. Quake is still a relative newcomer to the world of esports; however, this is a new and exciting market to get into, if you haven’t already had the chance to take a look at it.

How do Quake eSports Tournaments Work?

The first thing to know about a Quake esports tournament is that it will be incredibly fast. The game runs along at a frame rate of 120hz during tournaments, meaning that the action is incredibly quick, and the extreme dexterity on show from players can be somewhat mesmerising to watch. This means that if you’re not already familiar with Quake, it can be hard to follow exactly what is going on.

Most esports tournament versions of Quake are based on the sacrifice mode. Players are able to enter using the armour and weapons which they have built up in the game, (meaning that they are often using characters who would look more or less invincible to any regular player). Instead of playing individually, players are split into two teams, who take each other on for the victory.

While Quake is a relatively new addition to the esports scene, prize money is already incredibly high. One Quake championship which took place in 2017, had prize money of $100000 for the overall winner. This means that players are taking the game very seriously, and putting significant efforts into levelling up their characters, honing their skills and preparing for future championships.

What Betting Markets are Available for Quake eSports?

As Quake is a newcomer to the esports scene, the betting markets are not yet fully developed, and the odds are, that some new markets will emerge over the coming months and years. However, several markets are already available and growing in popularity. These include the following.

Match Winners’ Market

This is a reasonably easy market to understand. All you have to do is pick which of the two teams you think will win an individual match. If you’re an experienced gambler, you’ll spend some time looking at each team’s statistics and going over their past performance, before making a decision. Data on performance is somewhat limited at the moment, due to Quake’s relative newness, but this will only improve as time goes by.

Championship Winners’ Market

This is also known as the futures market and involves betting on the overall winner of a championship. As a tournament can have multiple rounds, you can get relatively long odds, even on experienced teams and players. However, there is obviously a much higher risk that you won’t receive a payoff at all if you choose to bet in this market. If you’re confident in your ability to pick winners though, this market could offer great opportunities.

Handicap Market

This tries to take some of the guesswork out of choosing which team is best, by automatically assigning an advantage to one of the teams in a match. If you disagree with the assigned handicap, then you could be in for a significant pay-out if you bet here and win. Always compare this option to the more straightforward match winners’ market before making a bet.

Quake is a fast-growing and exciting esports market with a vast range of opportunities and choices for esports gamblers.
